AREA: site appx. 750 m2, building appx. 1000 m2
DATE: 2017
PROGRAMME: Rehabilitation of an old water storage facility on Lanzarote

PROJECT TEAM: Dmytro Aranchii, Aliona Bondar, Ihor Kishta, Yevhen Kravchenko, Yelyzaveta Tymoshchuk, Anhelina Hladushevska
The project reuses the 600 m2 of the existing reservoir and the completion of a closed pedestrian ramp, ending with panoramic glazing at its highest point. Recording/rehearsal rooms (with at least 2 non-parallel walls) and stage without fixed seating are in the main volume of the project. Part of the rehearsal rooms has a (semi) island arrangement to prevent the transmission of sound vibrations due to the vibration of the enclosing structures.
Between the recording rooms is a place to relax. There are resting places along the ramp. The ramp ends with a compact public space overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. From the side windows and the roof of the main volume, you can see the volcanoes of Lanzarote. You can walk on the roof of the main volume.
One of the picturesque charms of the island are dry stone masonry half arches with pits for vineyards that protect from the prevailing north winds. It was decided not to demolish several of these half arches on the site to leave as a tribute to the tradition. Although there are no grapes near them already. Instead, a large archway ramps up. The patio formed by it contains a cosiness below ground level with trees protecting from the southern sun.
